Eliud Kipchoge is looking forward to shaking hands with other Six Star Finishers at the culmination of the TCS New York City Marathon.
The Kenyan, who is running New York for the first time, will join 434 other runners completing their Six Star journey in Central Park on Sunday.
Despite 11 Major wins, two Olympic golds, a sub-two hour marathon and multiple world records, he believes that accomplishment alone is the crowning moment of a remarkable career.
“Chasing that Six Star will actually cement my legacy,” he told reporters on Friday morning.
“It will make me a real marathoner all round. The Six Star has been my goal since I stepped in marathon.
“It takes time to do all the six, it takes patience, but patience pays.”
“My celebration is to see all the Six Star winners. Talk with them, shake hands, tell them to help me make this world a running world.”
The Kenyan has been enjoying the local bagels since arriving in New York and he says he’s excited to experience the sights and sounds from the supportive crowd on Sunday morning.
“I’ve been looking forward to New York for a very long time,” he added. “The city where everybody is there [to support].”
