Sydney 2026 will be even bigger

The confetti is still being picked up but that has not stopped race director Wayne Larden from looking at how to take the event to new heights.

Records were smashed on Sunday as Sifan Hassan, Hailemaryam Kiros, Marcel Hug and Susannah Scaroni broke new course records while Eliud Kipchoge wowed the huge crowds.

Almost 33,000 runners finished the race, which was Sydney's first as an Abbott World Marathon Major.

But Larden is already looking at how to improve operations for next year.
